to put on = надевать

to take off = снимать

to try on = примерять

to pick out = выбирать

To put on используется, когда человек надевает одежду, обувь, шапку или пальто.

To take off означает противоположное действие — снять одежду, обувь или головной убор.

He picks out a black hat, a blue hat, and a purple hat. He tries on all three hats. Then he puts on all three hats at the same time. Mum says, “Leo, take off two hats, please. You are not a clothes shop.”
