✅ Main Meaning | Основное значение

turn on — включить устройство, свет и т. п.
turn off — выключить устройство, свет и т. п.
turn up — увеличить громкость; также появиться
turn down — уменьшить громкость; также отказаться от предложения
turn into — превратиться / превратить во что-либо
turn out — оказаться каким-либо; закончиться определённым образом
turn back — повернуть назад / вернуться обратно
turn around — развернуться / повернуться в другую сторону

Turn on и turn off часто используются с электрическими устройствами, светом, телевизором, компьютером и радио.

Turn up может означать увеличить громкость: turn up the music. Оно также может означать неожиданно или просто появиться: Ben turned up late.

Turn down может означать уменьшить громкость: turn down the radio. Также оно означает отказаться от предложения или приглашения: turn down an offer.

Turn into описывает превращение одного предмета или состояния в другое.

6️⃣ Funny Story | Забавная история

Leo comes home after school and immediately turns on the TV. His mum tells him to turn it off and start his homework. Leo only turns down the volume and keeps watching.

After a few minutes, the film turns out to be very boring. Leo turns around and walks towards the kitchen. Halfway there, he remembers his homework and almost turns back.

Instead, he goes into the kitchen and turns on the radio. He turns up the volume. A minute later, Mum turns up at the kitchen door.

“Would you like to explain this?” she asks.

Leo considers turning down the invitation to explain, but decides that this may be dangerous. He quickly turns off the radio.

The noisy kitchen suddenly turns into a suspiciously quiet place.

One evening, Leo tries to study. He turns on the desk lamp and starts reading. Then he turns on the computer “just for a minute.” Twenty minutes later, the computer has turned his study plan into a disaster.

Leo hears the door open and turns around. Mum has turned up unexpectedly. Leo immediately turns off the computer.

“How is the studying going?” Mum asks.

Leo thinks about turning back to page one and starting again.
